Elizabeth Murphy founded Murphy Employment Defense primarily because of her deep knowledge and understanding of the home care industry and her desire to help home care business owners to navigate California’s nuanced and complex home care employment laws without having to pay big firm prices.  Ms. Murphy has been representing home care employers for over twenty years and working with the California Association for Health Care at Home (“CAHSAH”) and other industry groups through educational trainings, seminars, and various speaking engagements to help home care owners understand and apply the law, remain compliant, and avoid litigation.

We represent our clients in federal and state courts, arbitration, and before government bodies like the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), the California Department of Civil Rights (CDCR), the Unemployment Development Department (EDD) and their federal counterparts.  We are transactional, regulatory, advice and counsel, and trial lawyers. Most recently, our litigation team obtained a defense judgment in a discrimination case that had been pending for over nine years.
